    Game changer

Using this on a 249 gram UAV, low latency NTSC video and very good HD recording. Be nice if it had Mavlink OSD

    Great, for a v1

Posted by RooksFPV on 22nd Jul 2017

Firstly this product is beautiful for the hobby. Easy to install, the cabling is flat and doesn't go in the way. After popping in the card and plugging it in, immediately started to record, beautiful quality at 60fps, not in the slightest disappointed by its primary function. So why only 4 stars? Well here's where I hope they will make v2 better. Firstly, the wifi module is great for being on the field without a laptop, but you can't use it because in no way is it possible to plug it in once installed. Secondly, once home I want to transfer my footage but to do so I have turn on my transmitter and off the video transmitter because the USB feeds power into the system, makes the buzzer scream and the vtx get hot. Please let the USB ONLY power the split module. Last of all, albeit not really preventable, the extra stack makes it very hard to make it fit into modern frames. All in all, a game changer, a beast of a product and definitely looking forward to v2 and it's improvements.

    Almost Perfect

This is a really innovative camera system; it's comparable recording quality to my Mobius action camera. There are a few things that I feel should have been addressed however: 1. No reverse voltage protection. Other reviewers have said never plug in the micro-usb to the computer while the quad is powered because it will feed power back through the usb 5v line (potentially damaging the computer). This is fixed by simply installing a diode, which I wish was already done in the design. 2. The mounting bracket (I'm using the one that looks less square-ish) should have been a little taller and seated the camera a bit higher. When I mounted the camera bracket to the frame (RMRC Hellbender), the fastening nut prevents smooth rotation of the camera in the mount. This might be fixed by putting the flat pan head under the camera instead of the nut, but I needed a relatively flat bottom surface under the carbon fiber frame because I have a bottom mounted battery. There are props in view of the HD recording, and there is a bit of latency, but those are things I knew and accepted before I bought this system. All in all a great unique design that if money was no object, I would have one installed in all my quads.

    love the runcam

Thanks to GoPro for starting the action cam industry. And a lot more thanks to Runcam for giving us realistic and affordable options. I'm using my cameras for fun on my Axial Yeti xl and I use the my Runcam 3 and 2 for work. I do a little research and development so I get to use the high frame rate to tell how fast some things are. The only thing I'm waiting for is, I want 4k. I don't need it. But, I'd like it
